Elena O’Connor is a media and communications professional currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Media and Communication at the University of Galway. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from University College Cork, where she developed a strong academic foundation in literature, critical analysis, and storytelling.
Originally drawn to the transformative power of books from a young age, Elena has always been passionate about reading and writing. This passion has shaped both her academic and professional journey, influencing her interest in how stories are created, shared, and received across different media platforms. She brings a thoughtful, audience-focused approach to her work, with a particular interest in digital storytelling and content creation.
Elena has gained valuable experience across marketing, journalism, and education. As a Marketing Assistant at Future Mind Learning, she was responsible for writing and editing blog content, optimising website copy, and contributing to brand strategy. Her work played a role in increasing website traffic and improving audience engagement, while also strengthening her ability to adapt her writing style to different audiences and platforms.
Alongside this, Elena works as a Writer for the University of Galway’s student newspaper, where she develops, commissions, and edits long-form content. This role has further refined her editorial voice, research skills, and ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with readers. She has also worked as a Brand Ambassador, gaining hands-on experience in experiential marketing, audience engagement, and campaign execution.
Earlier in her career, Elena worked as an English and History teacher, where she developed a deep appreciation for the role of storytelling in education. Teaching students from diverse backgrounds reinforced her belief in literature as a powerful tool for connection, communication, and empathy.
At Collective Entertainment, Elena is excited to contribute her skills in writing, digital media, and content strategy while continuing to learn and grow within the entertainment industry. She is particularly interested in the intersection of storytelling, branding, and audience engagement, and hopes to build a career that combines her love of literature with media and creative industries.
In her free time, Elena enjoys reading, creative writing, hiking, and exploring new places. Based in Galway, Ireland, she continues to draw inspiration from both the literary world and the evolving media landscape as she begins her professional journey.
